noisy boiler

My boiler bangs and pops both on heating and hot water cycles.I have used a FERNOX product which is injected directly into a radiator to stop boiler noises, but this did not work. My system is 25 years old my boiler a Potterton prima is about 8 years old, it is a normal domestic house c/h sytem using a header tank and a hot water cylinder. I am told to be careful when descaling and not to use anything to strong. Any advice on what products to use to do this job.

Sounds like the boiler is ketteling use a sludge remover it is more gentle than a descaler as it would be likely to do more harm than good as your system is getting on a bit. Best of Luck John

Problem solved.I used Radex non acidic descaler leftin for 4 weeks
