My mother has an old enamel bath, with taps that come out of the end panel rather than out of the top of it.

The rubber ends on her old shower attachment have worn out and we've been unable to find a replacement that will fit the taps.

Please can you advise me as to where I might find either of the following:
- a shower attachment with rubber ends that will fit onto the old taps
- a set of bath/shower mixer taps that will fit in the existing holes (approx 18cm apart)

So far, everything I've seen at the DIY stores involves either blocking up the old holes and drilling new ones, or replacing the entire bath.

are you sure about the new taps, i once bought some started cursing they were too close, then realised they move

Yes - the old taps come out of the end panel rather than the rim. All of the new taps I've found are either rim mounted or wall mounted, so they're completely the wrong shape.

Hi breezer

The taps in your picture certainly come out of the bath at the right angle. Can you tell me where I can obtain more information about them?

Thanks

I'm having exactly the same problem with the taps on the side of the bath.
I've found these taps on victorianplumbing.co.uk - but they're extortionate! Do you have any idea where I might be able to find something similar, but cheaper?

Many thanks.

I've asked around and searched the web, but no luck. Beginning to think it'd be cheaper to change the bath!

If I find any I'll let you know.

yes the ones i showed a picture of do come from victorian plumbing, but then i suppose you get what you pay for

:(
Hi
so im not the only one with the tap problem!!!

i want to keep my bath as it is in good condition and is realy big but have the probem of TAPS!!!!!

it is driving me crazy i want a modern bathroom but cannot find any taps to suit.

has anyone had anymore look in finding these wierd taps they call GLOBE TAPS!!!

maybe you could try in France-website etc-as they are generally much cheaper there. Also try places like Wickes/Homebase-you may well find something if you search in stores which aren't so specialist and pricy. There is no reason why they should cost any more. They are made of same materials etc. Just a matter of manufacturer believing that people who have Victorian tastes are generaly well off middle callses harking back to the good old days of the Victorian Era-workhouses for the poor/children in the mines etc. Why not treat yourself to a modern contemporary bath and taps?!

Treat myself!!!!! thats sounds like a good idea. although most baths nowadays seem to be plastic crap. thanks for the advice i will hopefully soon have a bathroom!
