I wish to install a pull switch in a new 3 core cable to a light fitting. The switch has a L1, L2 and com connection with a earth on the casing.Do I cut the Red wire and connect one end to the COM and one to the L1 connection, cut the Green wire and connect both ends to the earth connection and let the black run through to the light untouched? Any reply appreciated.
Thursnight.

I take it you are using twin and earth??
I take it you have a supply cable and a cable to the light at the switch position? If so you are on the correct track, if you do need to cut the neutral joint it with a piece of terminal block. Both earths sleeved green/yellow to the back box terminal (I'm assuming a plastic switch).
