Hi,

We've recently got a second hand ford fiesta encore.
Its been stood in a garage for at least a couple of years.

The jets for the windscreen has never been great so my wife decided to try and fix the problem.

She found that there was all gunk in the bottom of the tank.
She found this by syphoning off the water and using some warm water from a kettle to try and flush out the tank.

She also found that the one of the pipes leading to the tank allows you to blow air into the tank.

Having gone out to help.

I found that water seems to leak out the bottom of the car when you do this.

When you try the jet there was a tiny bit of foam coming out of the pipe then it stopped altogether.

Can anyone suggestion what the problem might be?

I suspect that water coming out the bottom of the car isn't good?
Also that we might not be able to fix the problem ourselves?
But that a garage should be able to fix the problem is a couple of minutes?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Best regards,

Jules.

Take the washer bottle out, unplug the wires and the pipe / pipes. Once off you should be able to pull the motor off, it's only held on with a big rubber washer.
Clean out the washer bottle in some hot soapy water.
Plug the motor back onto the wires and operate the washer switch to make sure it runs.
If it does, put it all back together and try it.

The jets may be blocked which can be cleaned out with a small needle.

Hi,

Thanks so much for your reply.

Would I be able to do this without getting underneath the car ?

How do i take the bottle out, it looks like the big part of it is hidden out of view.

Thanks again :)

Jules.
