Hi all,

I have a pond air pump and have noticed that the internal wiring has no earth connected - is this safe to use outside in a shed or should I return it

Regards Ken

is it double insulated?

if so it does not require an earth

double insulated will be a sign / symbol which is a square within a square

Is the appliance double insulated?

If it is, it will carry this symbol:

<edit> Bah, too slow!

what about its manual, what does that say? or did it come with fitted plug, or better still make and model of said air pump

even the makers website says nothing, all i could find out is they are good, and do get hot.

how many cores does the cable have?

Is their a plate on it anywhere? If so, what does it say? Does it mention Class 2 anywhere?

Is it new? Is it a manufacturers fitted lead? I wouldn't like to chance the guess wether or not it is a class 2 (double insulated) device, can you ask the person you got if from?
