I'm having a real fire installed soon and the chimney sweep is quoting £75 to remove the cap. I guess the high price is due to the danger involved with climbing onto the roof but how hard is it to do?
I presume it's just a hammer and cold chisel to get the cap off?
Do I then need some mesh or something to stop birds etc? If so how is this fitted?
Any other info appreciated.
