I've just bought a new prv as combi one is dripping quite badly , I've replaced a few in the past , no problem, is there any reason why I shouldn't use faulty prv to drain system first , If i open the loop and prv would it just run clean water in whilst dumping the old water out , only reason I can think for not doing this is that it would run a load of crap through the boiler . In theory I don't see why this wouldn't flush the system , as I say prv is dead anyway ...

thanks

You want to avoid pushing any of the system solids through the boilers hex. Does it have a mag filter that could catch the debris?

No reason not to use the PRV to drain, if it's getting replaced though.

the water circulates through your boiler tens of thousands of times a day so emptying it through prv will not effect it in any way
