it can be accurate to the mm so I don't see why not as long as you put all the relavent dimensions on it etc..

OKie Dokie freddymercurystwin. I hope it's not too difficult to learn.
And Hi DevilDamo, I will be trying to put together a planning application for an extension to my flat. My architect friend was going to do it for me but has since become very busy with his own projects. Ho hum.
I will begin by using plans I have found on the gov planning applications site from neighbours with properties with the exact same layout as my flat. A good start I think, and go from there.

Well... I'd just use AutoCAD as I've been using it for approx. 11 years

I too downloaded sketchup and started to use it. I had used Turbocad about 20 years ago. Sketchup is a 3D tool and does 3D things whenever you want it to, and also when you don't want it to.
