hi i have an internal soilstack that runs through my bathroom,i want to redesign the room is it possible to run the vent pipe externally so i can then put a bath in its place? without interfering with regs?
No reason why not. But it begs the question why wasn't it run externally in the first place, because that would have been the obvious place to run the stack.

When I modified my soil pipe (only slightly) I was advised by friends on another forum that such work is subject to building control (which is what I presume you mean by "interfering with regs").

In my ( limited) experience of build. regs - soil pipes once Had to be inside - then they changed the regs and they can be in or out now I changed my own vent to outside on my 1st. house because it made the bathroom neater and no - one saw it from the road

I'm pretty sure that's not the case Nige. I've worked on commercial builds where they specified stacks to run internally (NHS and schools) but this was in run down areas, and by design with the sole purpose of stopping kids/vandals climbing on the roofs.
