Salmonella and friends are basing their future wealth on oil, how much longer are we going to be reliant on the stuff? I've noticed a few electric cars around Bristol and now there is a formula one style race series, I think more and more car manufacturers will jump on the wagon, no pun intended, I think they will have about ten years of North Sea income and then take a nose dive as it goes out of fashion.

Politicians want to give them more of my hard earned cash, I'm changing my mind, sod it! Give them their independence.

I've just googled: electric car sales year on year, over the last three years they have doubled each year, there are now 400,000 thousand worldwide, I can see this increasing as technology advances, independent Scotland will be up a greasy pole so to speak, IMO.

Depends on how they use the oil.

If they simply use the oil to fund current public spending, they are screwed.

If they create an oil wealth fund, where the money is only invested in infrastructure that can create wealth (such as dams, railways, tidal power), this could be very beneficial. This will create infrastructure that will replace the oil.

Can they save and invest the money, or will they be unable to resist spending it.

The current lot in holyrod are all ardent socialist spenders, I'm not sure they have it in them to make any compromise on public spending, so will end up spending it.

Norway has built a $1 trillion oil fund whilst still spending on their economy and infrastructure in half the time the lowest estimates of how long they say Sottish oil will last.

It's not about scraping to the current monarch. It's about recognising that this country is the sum of it's parts - and the monarchy is an important one of those parts. A part that has stood the test of time and made this country what it is today. A county that you and your fellow invaders are queueing up to get into - desperate to get away from their own hopeless, anarchic dust bowls.

32% Land area = Most of which is practically uninhabitable or farmland (low economic worth)
61% of sea area = Yea?
90% Surface fresh water = Yea?
65+95% north sea production = As opposed to what? North sea oil being drilled in devon, of course north sea production will be in the north sea.
47% Open cast coal production = Low economic worth
81% Coal reserves at sites not yet in production = gobbledegook.
62% timber production = low quality timber = low economic worth
46% Total forest area = just repeated information
92% Hydro power = 100% of not much = still not much
40% wind, wave and solar production = HAHAHAHAHA
60/55% Fishing = Ohhhhhh, much fish, such wow, think of all that wealth
Various % about farming = LOL can you say EU subsidised, farming is low economic worth

I'm sure a country in scotlands geographic position could be successfully, but those are some rubbish stats.

100% of Buckie production is in England

If Scotland is this bad, why are the members of the Westminster parliament trying so hard to keep it?

As far as I am concerned, I want to get shot of the Westminster Parliament, not the English, I am sick and tired of being a periphery problem for Westminster, whose leaders at present and the entire "Machine" of Westminster appear to me not to understand the Scots ethos, buckie and mars bars aside.

How would the majority of English voters feel if everyone in England voted for say the European Parliament, but only one candidate from the totally single dominant party in that parliament was elected to represent all voters in England within a totally dominant party? Scotland has one Conservative MP in Westminster, how do you think this feels, just think about it for a few seconds. O and this has been on-going for some time?

It is interesting to see the word Jock used in previous posts, a somewhat dated slang? or is this how us up here in the far frozen north are perceived?

Not to worry, soon we will not be paying for Trident, the house of Commons, and the Lords, and we can have a better grasp of Oil revenue, no not all but? what happens with the new oil finds? not part of any previous agreements?

Who can I trust? appears I can not trust Westminster, and I re-iterate not the English, as a group of people! just the politicos.
