I'm about to have some new carpet fitted (about 100 msq or so) and the fitter is offering Scotchgard stain protection - which will add a good £400 to the bill.

Anyone got any experience of this? Is it really worth getting?

The carpet is wool. There are two of us (and soon to be a third...). Thanks.

What was the cost of the CARPET. I have just had a new carpet & only the 2 of us so I didnt bother. Most stains can be removed anyway, if you look at previos thread of mine, I spilt RED wine on beige carpet, managed to get it off. So its really about spending ££££ or not.

About £15 sqm + £8 sqm for underlay.

So it's not the most expensive in the world. It's just they kind of assumed we would be having it... general ploy, I guess. But this is the first time I've had carpet fitted and I've had conflicting answers from a) it's a necessity to b) do it yourself in the areas you need it with a suitable aerosol.

Thanks for the answer.
