New Year, New Resolution - Acceptable topics for GD

Anyway. Anyone had good experiences with the Combo cdti's??

Not the combo but we do have an Astravan, great fuel economy(60+ mpg) and handles like a car.

Great little van.

It's a race every morning to get it first, ahead of the Vito's.

Well I recently chopped my elderly VW T5 for a Transit custom. I'd had the VW from new and it has given me more than it's fair share of issues over the years but it was always very nice to drive with lots of power... The Custom although doesn't feel as solidly built has gone past the point of when the VW fist gave trouble.

The Ford does come with lots of toys and has several nice touches, one is the hatch under the passenger seat which allows 3meter lengths of pipe to be transported in a short wheel base van. another is the pop up roof rack so that if you do need to shift anything longer you can and when not in use folds down to keep wind noise down... Given that the Ford has a lot less power however fuel economy is not brilliant round town averaging 34mpg but when driven carfully on a run I have managed 47mpg. Driving position and seating is very good and is just as good as the VW and the heated screen works a treat as do the heated seats though I don't think that the fabric is as resilient. To be fair, although modern vans have lots of gadgets, these gadgets will give issues in years to come, so be careful if buying second hand.

Snap,

We were using T5's for our engineers and they had consistent issues.
Now they have done their time, we swapped over to the new transits as well. Engineers way prefer them.

You probably haven't noticed guys but there is Motor Forum! I had initially thought that you were being facetious with your replies but then decided that you are just too mature for that. That being so, perhaps the admin would transfer your posts to the correct forum.

We are discussing the pros and cons of various vans for our assorted trades... Some vans work well for some trades and less well for others, I suspect that we would look in the motor section if we needed advice on replacing the DMF or EGR valve. Bolo, would you like to share your thoughts with us about your van? You may have noticed that we have only skimmed the biscuits at work, radio station to listen to and gone nowhere near discussing beer, soldering irons, roof racks, screw drivers, paint manufacturers or tool bags.... If you would like to discuss a specific mechanical issue that you may have with the mechanics, then I'm sure that they will be delighted to help, same with a specific plumbing or heating issue but do be sure to check previous threads first as the gas men don't take kindly to being asked the same daft question over and over again and some of them aren't quite as polite as those that you have met here

I have a Connect - 95 psi. Great little van
Is that the earlier square shaped one? I never really noticed them 'till I saw a really nice one down at one of the quarries that I do work at... Deep metallic blue with a nice set of alloys and a little roof spoiler made it look nice without being OTT

I only know one chap with a combo, he seems pretty pleased with it but he did have an issue with one of the modules which resulted in him having to have a tow, fraid that all I know about them

Firstly, I can honestly say that, apart from this episode: //www.diynot.com/diy/threads/the-guy-at-number-three.113366/, as far as I can remember, I have never been in a van in my life.
Secondly, I have absolutely no interest in DMF or EGR valves, biscuits at work, soldering irons or any of the other items listed in your reply.
Thirdly, and finally, having given you the benefit of not being facetious, I now see that you are and leave you to your trivia.

With only a first in maths and a 2/1 in geography, I really don't think that I have the qualifications to discuss religion.

Indeed, it seems that you are not really qualified to discuss much at all and seem to be pretty useless.

Wow! What a devastating reply! Well done Corgigrouch! I am speechless! I submit and will go from whence I came! See you later!

PS: Before I go, can I just say that is so good to see the GD Forum back on course.

Some people aren't happy unless there is something to be offended by. No mention of the taboo subjects. Just tea, biscuits and vans. Then they get unhappy about that and try to get your posts moved. Funny old world.

I had the old shape one for 8 years. Now have the new one - lovely van to drive

I wonder what qualifications corgigrouch has?

Like most guys in vans, I am qualified to engineer wonderful, creative and useful things, thus improving the lives of many folk, making the world a better place... Blokes in vans, I salute you.
