Hi,

Is there any chance to get a boiler install done on the cheap (<150) or free by a gas registered corgi?

The boiler is a baxi main eco elite 30kw and it has to be registered within 30 days otherwise warranty is void.

I was thinking there must be some newly trained corgi's who would do it for free to get good experience on their cv's

for £150 they would be doing it for nothing :confused: what part of that £150 will the gas man will actually see ? and acting like your doing a newly qualified gas man
a favour don't make me laugh :cautious::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Actually there are a lot of industries where trainees offer free service. For instance i get my hair cut from the college. Trainee hair dressers and a free cut. Win win situation. They get the experience and I get a free cut.

Obviously I'd expect to pay for any materials. I'm surprised from your reaction that you think trainees don't offer it. Seems like a win win to me

But in this case a "trainee" wouldn't be allowed to work on a gas appliance unless he / she had passed the relevant modules, if they have passed them they would expect paying for their knowledge, study and hard work.
The worst that can happen at the hairdressing college is, you get a wonky haircut. Need I go on ?

There is a gas engineer in London who will do it for £84.00 providing your on a bus route

You are quite right JH, other industries do offer placements with free work from trainees and is a benefit to all. Unfortunately getting your hair cut doesn't come with the risk that when used the wrong number of clipper cut doesn't blow your roof off, you just get a skewiff fringe. That and the level of work, time taken and costs to the installer is quite significant. Gas apprentices/portfolio builders are closely monitored by a trained gas professional installer and as such there is a direct 1to1 cost for that resource and unfortunately cannot be supplied if the cost does not cover the professionals and apprentices time, effort and overheads.

There are very few, if any of the construction industries apprentices that I can think of that could/would offer a free or very cheap resource as part of their training to the general public. Maybe if the industry's training was funded differently then it could be possible and would be a win/win as you mention but unfortunately it's not under the current framework.

I don't think anyone would do it for that price!

I charge £840 plus any parking cost!

But that's only within a reasonable travelling distance or with accommodation and sustenance paid for.
