What has gone wrong with my unvented system?

So, I am not going to alter any valve, but I've just set both immersion heaters on, at 17:00, and will monitor what happens for the next hour... they've not been on at all for the last few days, since Wednesday last week, actually. Bathroom sink tap was tepid only at the start of the test.

TPRV is doing exactly what it's designed to do, discharging on excessive temp/pressure.
I would suspect the discharge is temp related.
Call someone who holds the relevent qualification in order to deal with this.

Yes, well, I think that's a given, right? ;) I'm still curious as to why. I think we are looking at some interesting things here - it's a shame some want to seem to close down a discussion about a system by just saying "call someone and don't ask any questions, just trust them and pay the bill without questioning what was done, and even why"... I own the system, it's mine; I'd like to try and understand it a little better. I am especially keen to know if I can make improvements to this system - for example, if I'm told that I need to replace that expansion vessel - I'll be thinking it must be quite old, right? At least 2011, so maybe things have moved on... maybe I can have things done better rather than a like-for-like replace. But if it needs "recharging"? only... maybe not. What do I have it recharged with... I'm guessing not some Duracell AAs?!?

I aim to let the immersions work for a while and then see whether that needle has changed position when it starts shunting water down the tundish. Tundish. I've already learned something today, you see? :) I didn't have a clue before. Peace out.

Then I suggest you enroll yourself on a G3 course in order to further your knowledge.
You also 'own' the gas appliances although that doesn't automatically deem you competent to carry out any works to them.

What you've mistakenly stated is that I intend to carry out any work on them. I do not. I intend to test and review and discuss. So, back in your box pal. Go protectionist-troll somewhere else.

Manually opening the zone valve is effectively bypassing a safety device and potentially dangerous. This is why unqualified people shouldn't be giving out advice to unsuspecting people.
The risks are over temperature and over pressure. The prv and associated pipework is the safety device. The zone valve for temperature. Edited!
Do you hold the relevant G3 qualification John?
No, presumably there's some first G3 rule that involves never helping for free.

Don't run both of your immersions together for a start, turn on just the bottom one and see if the problem stops.

Ps the zone valve is classed as a safety device.

Ah... I did turn them both on!

But that's OK for this test - I think we're curious if the needle on that dial moves, right?

Right - 17:31 and it's started to sloooo-ooowly drip down the tundish.

Good point my apologies it is indeed over temperature. Thanks for helping out the OP!

Well that proves it's not over pressure unless the guage is faulty so not the expansion vessel, presumably either over temperature or faulty prv.

Hopefully one of the G3 registered members will help now.

The water dripping through the tundish - now a fair bit faster than 10 minutes ago - remains cold to the touch.

PRV is a new one on me guys... pressure release valve, pressure relief valve, pressure reducing valve? One of them, I'd hazard a guess at.
