It's what I done 2 years ago, the best thing ever.
The conny was too hot in summer and too cold in winter.

I would have thought that greenhouse shade netting would be cheaper and easier than strips of foil - it's also permeable, so less of a problem with rain and wind, then just take it down at the end of the 'too hot' season
Sorry - late night physics brain is currently unavailable! It would certainly work better if you lay it on the outside.Excellent idea. Would it do the job if I fitted it ok the inside of the roof?
