My bath and shower curtain are showing a pink tinge, looks like bacterial growth and likely due to contamination in the cold water storage tank. Does anyone have experience of products to clean this out? I notice Fernox do two products, one using choline tablets and another with hydrogen peroxide. Are either one more favourable?

Thanks

+2 .... Nothing to do with your CWSC, it's a mildew bacteria that's found in the air and grows in warm wet areas like in your bathroom, your shower is the most typical place or bath and the curtain as you suggest, anywhere the water will gather. Only treatment is to clean/rinse the area to get rid of any old soap and then dry the areas as well as you can, once it's been used.

You curtain is the harder one to clean, material dependent and all you can do is shove it in the washing machine if it's material or scrub and wash/rinse in the bath with some vinegar/lemon/orange/bicarb/washing powder cleaner with rubber gloves and rinse well.

Make sure your bathroom is well ventilated, leave the door open and/or window open after bath/shower to allow the air to ventilate

No window to bathroom but an old and noisy vent fan. I'll look in to a quieter fan that I can run for longer periods. Washing the shower curtain in a little disinfectant gave a very good result. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.
