I'm having a nightmare with my kitchen design.

I really want both washing machine and dishwasher. The only way it will work is if i have my washing machine at the top of my cellar steps (next to kitchen). I would be able to run a cold feed and also the waste pipe (from washing machine) to the sink, although this would be over a distance of 5 metres. Would this be an issue? Would the pump be strong enough to remove waste?

It would involve drilling through either side of chimney breast but it would work

Thanks

I guess you mean by extending the drain hose, rather than taking a proper fixed waste pipe to it?

It would take a little longer to drain, but should manage it - depending on the machine and how long it allows for pumping out, before flagging up a fault.

Best way, is set it up temporarily and try it.

I had a similar issue with the siting of a washing machine that was previously in the garage... I was advised to check the manual of the washing machine as they stipulate the length of pipe that the pump is capable of dealing with. My machine (fairly modern at 2 years old) has a limit of 3.2 metres

I've decided to move the fridge freezer to top of cellar steps instead of the washing machine... It sounds like it will have been to far to run waste.
