THE ULTIMATE ROCK"RIFF"

It all comes down your definition of the word "rock riff".

Personally, I'd exclude anything even vaguely 'metal', i.e. has the distinct and tedious 1/4 time signature, with a vocal accompaniment from someone who's just drunk some drain cleaner. .

but thats why i love it

The Who ...... IMHO.

this is essentially the problem, i personally dont think much of the who, some great songs but pretty tedious on the whole. each to their own i guess.

If that's the direction we're going now then I'm gonna vote for "I Will Always Love You", by Dolly Pardon (not that hideous version by the wailing banshee Whitney Houston).
