Which of these 3

5yr Warranty on heat exchanger also meaningless unless they expect it to be as bad as the ideal response with respect to heat exchangers.

not that i wish to slag off the brand. haveno problems with them just don't worship them.

I'm not a plumber!
BUT we have just had a Vaillant fitted (last boiler was a Baxi) - looking at it with the cover off with the heating engineer he was explaining stuff - the case is insulated so it's seriously quiet, the pump is a rebadged grundfos so it's reliable, all the bits you'd need to get at are accessible - it's been well thought out regarding maintenance and parts replacement, the heat exchanger just slides out, blah blah blah.
He did go on a bit - I'm only typing the bits I can remember. He has a vaillant in his own house.
There's a rubber hose inside on the lefthand side that's a weak point, other than that it's good.
Stainless heat ex as well - not aluminium. This is an important point.
Plumbers firm usually fit W-Bosch, but I did a lot of asking around, and got the vaillant. Have a look inside one along side a W-B or Baxi - you'll see what I mean.

Na he wont as the duo tech comes with a 5 year warranty.

Duo Tec has a 2 year warranty. It's the Platinum that gives a 5 Year warranty.

Exactly the same boiler but about £300 dearer to cover the extended warranty

I'd go for the Baxi great boiler for the money, brass componants, s/steel heat ex, grundfos pump etc. Vaillant are just too clever for there own good, the interface is just utterly pointless. Baxi are also cheap to repair should you need too and if the installer is signed onto there rewards scheme, if you need a warranty call, then you will have an engineer out, the same day.

I think the Baxi will still be plodding on in 15years time but the WB have rotted from the inside out (im servicing 1 year old SI's and am finding the heat ex's to be a weak spot) The Vaillants plastics and hoses will have given up the ghost too.

Go with the Baxi.

not so fast, i asked first  you tell me first how it is 'far superior'.

as i have said i am not having a go, just want to know if the price premium is worth it

everything is designed for ease of maintenance, brass and stainless steel (not much cheap plastic) waterset, flexible flueing options and anti pluming kits, wireless roomstat and weather comp option, good aftersales service, spares readily available, compact, inbuilt filling loop and bypass, variable speed pump, 5yr warranty on h/exch, 937 storage option, excellent diagnostic system, inbuilt frost stat, pump protection programme, low lift weigh, easy wiring, etc etc

With the exception of the plastic waterset, the Worcester has all this too.. Primary HE has a 10 year warranty

Vaillant has stainless steel h/exch, WB aluminium (and problematic)

Or are baxi just very, very basic? The interface is extremely usefull if you have the intelligence to use it.

.

Harrogategas-The Vaillant hoses have now been modified and strenghtened so no longer a problem. Very little plastic on Ecotec.

And what use is the interface to a customer? The Baxi manages a higher efficiency rating than the Vaillant without all the nonsense crap the interface houses.

the interface is primarily for the installer/service engineer and allows the boiler to be matched exactly to the system
(lots of adjustability, fault memory, hours of use etc etc) and aids fault finding.

My main problem with the Duo-Tec/Platinum, is that all the hydraulics are biasi/ideal. Just compare it to an Ideal Mini and you will see they are exactly the same.

But then it is made in Italy, just badge engineering again

5yr warranty on h/exch

5 year warranty is parts only and just on plate HE against scaling. Everything else is the standard 2 year warranty. I'm fortunate that I get a full 3 year warranty on all my Vaillants, whilst others like Simond get 5 years on everything.

if you buy a vaillant from vhs direct it comes with a standard 3year warranty anyway. Thats for anyone.

is it a crime to have parts that shared from a biasi boiler? if the flow and return group are found to be reliable why not use them?
