    Strawboard partition walls

I’m thinking unlikely too. The house was built in the mid 80’s. The boards look to be compacted straw with cardboard lining. It appears that they have been skimmed with ordinary plaster. Pic of the lining here.

    Strawboard partition walls

Hello. I recently posted about whether some internal walls in my living room and kitchen maybe load bearing. I thought I’d pull off some plaster board at the place it meets the ceiling to see if I could see if the wall in question was supporting a joist. I have discovered that the internal walls...

Are these load bearing walls or partition?

I cut into wall ‘C’ last night right at the top and the partition walls are not the stud type as first thought. They are made from strawboard and I can’t as of yet see any frame.

Are these load bearing walls or partition?

Yes, I inherited the greenery :) Would you say on the basis of what I have shown I would be okay with removing the walls shown below hatched?

Are these load bearing walls or partition?

I have attached a typical layout of the house. As you can see it is two stories with the main bedroom to the left overhanging as can be seen on the front view pic. Within the layout, you will see that the left drawing shows the original layout of the living room & kitchen. At some point wall 'A'...

Are these load bearing walls or partition?

Hi there. Wall C is again around 70mm thick and when I tap on it feels hollow. I’ve managed to get my phone camera into one of the down light holes and record a video. The beams run across wall C and it appears to be plasterboard on top of wall C between the beams and the wall if that makes...

Are these load bearing walls or partition?

Hello. I’m wanting to take out 3 walls to make the living room open plan with the kitchen. I’m sure the walls are just partition stud walls as I’ve drilled through them to attach various things. However, I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that stud partition walls can also be load bearing? The wall...

Engineered wood flooring glued. Need to add some more pieces? But how?

I have removed some fitted units in my living room and the engineered wood flooring was fitted up to the units rather than underneath them. I am now left with a gap that i need to fix. It appears that the floor has been glued together in the T&G. I'm assuming the pieces will be impossible to...

What could be the cause of this leak?

The leak is actually below the gutter. It's an odd set up to be honest. This pic shows where the leak is by the red cross and the yellow circle is where the gutter is that's full of moss.

What could be the cause of this leak?

The first pic above is above the leak. The second pic shows the general roof area & the third pic shows the gutter to the right & above of where the leak is. The gutter appears to be full of moss. I wonder if when it rains this gutter is overflowing & the rain making its way under the tiles? I...

What could be the cause of this leak?

Apologies the roof pic is to the left of the leak. It was an earlier photo that I had on my phone. I shall take a better pic this evening of the area directly above. I think there's some more of the ridge mortar that's come away, to be honest.. No, the loft is on the other side.

What could be the cause of this leak?

Hello all. Walking up the stairs last night & I felt a drip of water onto my head. Looked up & saw a slight water staining on the wooden beam as per the attached pic. The house is of an unusual design & I'm assuming under the roof tiles there is not much apart from plasterboard & the beams...

    Patio door UPVC beading loose

Hello. I have just got the keys to my new house & have noticed that some of the beading around the fixed patio door is loose. It appears that someone has had the same problem on the sliding door & glued the beading in. I have tried removing all the beading & seating the shortest top & bottom...
