I’m thinking unlikely too. The house was built in the mid 80’s. The boards look to be compacted straw with cardboard lining. It appears that they have been skimmed with ordinary plaster. Pic of the lining here.

I cut into wall ‘C’ last night right at the top and the partition walls are not the stud type as first thought. They are made from strawboard and I can’t as of yet see any frame.

The leak is actually below the gutter. It's an odd set up to be honest. This pic shows where the leak is by the red cross and the yellow circle is where the gutter is that's full of moss.
