Hi
Sorry for urgent post - need to quickly check a couple of things if anyone is about with answers!
BI is checking DPM tomorrow on top of new concrete floor. We have laid (as specd by architect) 150mm hardcore, 150mm concrete. Next up is the DPM on top of sand bed (after which BI is...
Nice one, thank you.
For info I have also found a good selection here http://www.strongtie.co.uk/
Now I jsut need to wait for the engineer to tell us if our victorian bricks will stand the weight... :)
Hi everyone
We are putting a 180x300 (4x45mm beams bolted together) beam across the width of our house in the roof space as part of the loft conversion. The beam was specified by our structural engineer, and was supposed to sit a bricks width into the parti wall at either side. Getting the...
sorry to momentarily hijack you thread, can I tag on the end with a wee ask? ta.
I am putting 3 RSJs up over a 3.5m span tomorrow, they will be butted next to one another. Similar to OPs question - should they be secured to padstones/tied in to one another or will the load of the wall that...
G'day
We are converting our loft, cheapest way of putting new stairs in is an 'off the shelf' job from Jewsons (or similar). However the standard rise for off the shelf stairs is 100mm more than we require. Does anyone have any ideas on the best way (if any) of modifying these stairs to fit...
Wellity well... thanks again for all your responses.
The rear wall of the house came down on Monday so the route to the trench was nice and easy without a dodgy turn out of the doorway... all barrowed in easily within the allotted time (4 of us barrowing). Company used were Mixamate - very...
Ah, some more advocators of the muscle method - I'm sold! Concrete booked, barrows ahoy. I promise to report back apologising for doubting the pumpers if I snap my back in two :)
Cheers all.
Dan
Well picked up on :) 60 *wheel barrows* full - that is the highest number of barrow fulls quoted by companies for 2m3 concrete - the average no quoted was 40. That sound fairer?
quote "60 barrows in a n hour? Ever pushed a fully loaded barrow of concrete? Now try doing it 60 times through the house without spilling any. "
I have... yes. had to get all the feckin soil out to the skip that way this w/e! :)
it's a bit of an arse, but by then I'll have the kitchen...
Cheers for the input fellas... you both sounds like you know what you're on about! I've been on to all the companies google threw at me for Surrey, I am now erring towards getting the boys round and barrowing it through the house after seeing that a pump will set me back more than twice the...
Howdy
Footings dug, concrete required... Any suggestions for a concrete delivery company in Surrey?
I need to either be able to pump or chute the concrete over ~10m as I am mid terrace without a rear access.
Cheers one and all
Hi all,
quick question: What is the max angle bend I can get away with in order for rodding to be possible without putting in an inspection chamber?
I know MINIMUM BENDS but in reality can I get away with 25 - 30 degree bend for example? or will the BI not pass this?
Cheers again! You...
Awesome, cheers. I looked this up further here

Do I have to surround this in concrete? I was only planning on basing the IC on 100mm concrete not surounding it... ?
