I needed to pass a cable under a wide path (in several places) recently.
I got an old meter long 16mm bit, cut in half and welded a meter long threaded rod in the middle. Frankendrill as it's affectionately know by several of my colleagues has since been through some rather thick sandstone...
It depends on the size of the cable already in place really and if it's suitable for mains voltage at all (not extra low voltage cable that had a transformer in the garage for example).
Ive done similar myself but the fuse in the plug needs to be the correct size to protect the cable in...
Depending on how much space you have can you use a IDC connector like these things: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/2-way-jelly-crimp-connectors-100-pack-n72dv to connect to a cable you can strip?
(you don't strip cables for IDC connectors).

Pictures of the two sides are below, one is the valve and not leaking and one is the trv. The trv is leaking at the top of the nut for the join to the pipe.
I'm not sure if this is right but I am thinking that when I replace the connector on the trv I will need to to cut the pipe back...

Cheers,
David.

At the valve end the...

Virgin uses these kind of connectors...
The only real way if your not happy to make your own cables is call virgin media and get them to move the modem. I think its about £99 unless you can talk them into doing it for free.
The attenuator should unscrew from the modem and the connectors though - its a separate item.
What ever...
