    Bathroom in terrible state

Tiled shower (floor and walls). No loose tiles. Cemet floor and brick wall. I dread having to lift off any tiles but as you describe the leak may be within the wall or tray. Can we diagnose this without lifting any tiles or is that impossible?

    Bathroom in terrible state

Thanks. It's own so we need to carry out the repairs. We suspect the leak is from the shower door. We hope silicon and regrouting will solve it? Nothing else looks significantly broken to cause the leak. Sounds like a good clean and tidy up will solve it.

    Bathroom in terrible state

We have moved into a place with a bathroom in a terrible state. Mould and dampness everywhere. We are unsure if this is a DIY job we can even undertake. The shower and room is not being used. Ventilation and extractor fan are fine but don't appear to be used. We were first planning to clean up...

    How about these?

Please help - What type of wood?

Both, but primarily the balcony flooring. I have been advised it may be cedar, that would make me assume western red cedar. However I know nothing about wood so am only speculating and not sure if this is a generic or specific term. (?)

Please help - What type of wood?

We are looking at repairing our balcony and some planks need replacement. One problem is we cannot identify the type of wood. I have attached some photos. Can anyone assist? The wood appears untreated and is a shade of grey (after natural weathering). Failing anyone being able to identify it...

How easy for an amateur to repair/replace this lock?

Thanks. I will try the graphite in the interim however for the cost of a new cylinder and to limit any security issue I am now keen to change it. I have located the same Eurospec brand online, but will any standard rim cylinder fit? I am assuming that the ring is separate and I can retain our...

How easy for an amateur to repair/replace this lock?

Thanks for the replies. There are two locks on the door: One is a British Standard type lock that works fine. The second lock is the one we wish to repair/replace. The current lock is a Eurospec (E*S) brand. The front of the lock has a door pull. It seems that I could buy any brand and it...

How easy for an amateur to repair/replace this lock?

We have the below pictured lock that has started to play up - key needs some effort to put inserted. This is the same with all keys for this lock. Keys don't appear damaged or bent. Some have suggested using graphite however I wonder if the barrel or whole lock just need replacing? How...

Fixing Recessed Block Out Roller Blinds

We have a block out roller blind that is installed into the recess of our window. The blind follows a vertical track. Problem - The string/chain has come out and we have no idea how to put it back! The blinds are currently all the way down. I have tried threading it back but I can't seem to...

How difficult would this be to achieve?

Thanks. I don't have access to many tools, so suspect I would need to someone to cut the shelf for me. Also, if we were to fix the shelf to a side wall and kitchen cupboard, would we be able to install a thinner looking floating shelf or normal shelf with hidden brackets? The splash back looks...

Am I doing it right? - Filling Holes

I am attempting to repair some damage left by a former wall shelf. The shelf was held up by five screws. I have removed the screws and wall plugs. A sanded down the area. I then removed any residual dust and dirt. Finally wiped the surface with a damp cloth. I have now applied a first coat of...

How difficult would this be to achieve?

Some patience but don't want it all crashing down! How many days would this take an amateur versus a professional? What type of wood is required here? Where should I begin my research? (What should I Google...)

How difficult would this be to achieve?

I am seeking some advice on achieving a similar result in our own kitchen. I am looking to add some kind of splash back (tiled or similar). Then installing two shelves. Very similar dimensions to the attached photo. The slight difference is the shelves would only have two walls to attach two...
