i installed a twyford a while back, the thing was like a sieve, what it might be is that the outlet is not completely flush with the basin, the only way ive found is silicone it well
you can get enough play with a bit of grunt. the only thing id watch out for is if there are any other comp fittings/ valves as you dont want to disturb them, one knock the wrong way and its mop and bucket time.
I would contact the manufacturer and see if the a. still make the shower and b. carry spares for it. it will all come down to cost a part isnt worth more than the shower. but please note once one part goes its likely another is not to far away imo.
