The downpipe is about 2" too short to fit into the shoe. The shoe was badly fitted and cemented in any case. I'm thinking do I cut another section of downpipe which will fit snuggly. Or can I just use a socket.

I have some slowish running waste pipes from the bath and the basin. I'm looking for something more heavy duty than Mr. Muscle. I've seen these two products:

117cm x 82cm this one: http://www.johnlewis.com/202642/Style.aspx
Anyway I want them flush to the wall. There are 3 fixings I've seen:
1. 3M command picture hanging strips.
2. Mirror...
Wanted to go over these areas in the Kitchen and living room again. Used new 1.5" Harris brush. Shook emulsion and stirred it in clean kettle. The areas I went over are now a dirty white on the kitchen and a dirty magnolia in the living room.I did wash the brush and the kettle throughly with...

Its at £89 at B&Q. The website says it is normally £99. But instore it said normally £199. The accessory set is £15. I've reserved one from Stevenage. The B&Q near me in Welwyn Garden City was sold out. Good buy or not...
What is the correct filler for the holes left behind on the tile/grout from an old shower head bracket?
I am installing a new shower set. I am about to drill a couple of 6mm holes with a ceramic bit to fit the shower bar.
I need to put in a very light basic shower set. Will a 18v Bosch driller/driver be enough to drill the holes mainly through grout with plaster board behind.
Surely I don't need a hammer driller for such a lightweight job.
A Pro told me that he uses lambswool, but some others prefer microfibre.
TBH if you want a very smooth finish and are a beginner I would try a Harris paint pad. That's what I did. It looks immaculate. The problem with rollers if you are a beginner is judging how much load is on the sleeve, a...
It depends a lot on the colour of your furniture, flooring, curtains etc.
I went for a very safe but bland choice. White matt emulsion on the ceilings, magnolia matt emulsion on the walls and white satinwood for the woodwork.
I used white bathroom emulsion and white kitchen emulsion for those...
I am a diy beginner.
Today I had to paint 4 flush doors.
These are the steps that I took.
1. Sugar soap each door with a sponge and then rise it off with fresh water. And of course remove the door handles.
2. Rub down each surface with a medium grade sandpaper. I thought medium would give a...
For the past couple of years I didn't have a headboard for my bed. Its a divan type. Anyway I put the bed near to a wall. And low and behold I'm scratched some paint off the plasterboard. You can see the brown paper underneath.
I thought Gyproc was ivory on the face and brown on the reverse...
I'm so tempted to just bung it all in the communal bins. (I live in a block of flats). Anyway I thought it all ended up in the landfill anyway. Thats not fly tipping is it.
I could have just given them away. But in my haste to lift them I've damaged some of them with the pulling bar.
I'll be...
