    Opinions required

I'm just interested in your opinions on what the requirements are to set up as a one man band electrician. Here's my scenario,I have C + G 2360 part 1 with about 5 years experience, mainly commercial and domestic installations. I'm doing C + G 2360 part 2 at the moment at night school,I also...

    What's the best way to

Thanks to each and all for your advice. Some interesting solutions then. It's really just one aeriel in the living room and one in each bedroom so I will probably just use a 9V DC splitter in the loft, one longish cable run then some fairly short ones to each bedroom. Point taken about...

    What's the best way to

take an aeriel connection around the house. If say I've got my co-ax in the loft from my outside aeriel how then would I split this off to take to the relevant rooms? I know about y-splitters and the like but to be honest the connection doesn't seem too great. Is there a more effective...

    Metal cable sheathing

Cheers for the quick response. I always use horizontal runs and vertical drops, all in galv sheathing. Never have I seen this stuff earthed. Should I stray from this path then my understanding would be that the sheathing would then have to be earthed. :)

    Metal cable sheathing

Just been having a look through the regs. Anyway,I read something which says if cable is less than 50mm deep in the wall then it must be laid in 'earthed metal conduit'. What I'm thinking about is not conduit as such but the metal galvanised trunking. Does this have to be earthed? If so...

    blown bulb tripped RCD

No you shouldn't be concerned. When a lamp blows there is a slight surge, the RCD has detected this and is doing it's job. Wether lights should be on an RCD protected circuit is another matter.

    CU replacement and seal break

The seal you are going to break does not belong to you. The technical name for the type of offence you would be committing,I'm not sure of.

    CU replacement and seal break

Basically everything before the meter belongs to the Electricity supplier, everything after the meter belongs to you. You should NOT break a seal to pull the service fuse without permission of the relevant electic company (I know you have gained permission),if you do you can be prosecuted...

    ELV Downlighters in kitchen

Yes that's right, the next set of 4 lights will need to be independently switched from the other 4. Sorry for not making it clear , my English aint too good :? Second switch wire is already in place,it's just the connections I wanted to check.

    ELV Downlighters in kitchen

This was my first post to the forum, thanks for your help. Anyway, let me get this right,I can connect my new LNE feed to my original LNE feed in my JB? Take more 1.5 T&E to another JB and then connect my switch wire here and also my other transformer? I will have to connect my switching at...

    ELV Downlighters in kitchen

In reply to my own post I have worded it wrong....obviously my switched live goes to my transformer and then to the light. Apologies

    ELV Downlighters in kitchen

My kitchen has been refitted and all that remains is to connect some extra low voltage downlighters. The lights come in packs of four and on the instructions it recommends running no more than 4 lights per transformer (which is also supplied). Anyway I connected the first 4 via junction box...
