7x5 Apex shed advice - pressure treated?

Hi I was about to pull the trigger on buying a Tiger 7x5 Apex shed as the build quality and reviews look good, but then I realised it isn't pressure treated. Realistically, I can't see myself bothering to recoat the shed every year so should I consider pressure treated as a must-have? I've...

Why is this garage roof leaking?

Good question, I'll try to check but reluctant to clamber on it!

Why is this garage roof leaking?

Thanks - maybe I'll see if I can find one to clean/repair it. I did get a quote to have it replaced but it was nearly £2500..

Why is this garage roof leaking?

Hi I have a 1980s garage with a corrugated cement asbestos roof. The roof looks to be in good shape to me from the inside, but there are significant leaks coming from where the sheets overlap. I can't figure out why as there are no obvious cracks. I am wondering though whether the moss on the...

    Garage roof, asbestos?

Thanks - I reckon I'll just leave well alone and save the test money

    Garage roof, asbestos?

Hi The picture is from a UK garage roof, part of a block of external garages, built probably early 1980s. The roof looks to be in good condition, apart from minor chunks missing like on the left of the picture. I don't see any signs of flaking. I notice that there is a blue tinge on the edge...

Builders made door opening too small

Yep - you are right on both points. I did the electrical work (under my electrican brother's supervision) and made a FFL datum by drilling a hole (before the door opening was there) and shining a laser level through it. From what the guy said on Friday, I think they made assumptions based on...

Builders made door opening too small

Thanks all. From a quick search I think it isn't a building regs issue, but it's certainly a bodge. We're very keen to get the job finished and get on with carpeting etc., but I think this is too big a compromise and we'd regret living with it so I'm going to have to get them to fix it. Think...

Builders made door opening too small

Hi Just getting towards the completion of an extension coming off the lounge, and we realised that the door opening between the lounge and the extension is too small, due to a miscalculation by the builder. The overall result is that the fitted internal 1981mm door has been cut down to 1915mm...

Hardiebacker fireplace lining & plastic plugs

Hi Suspect I'm overthinking this but here goes.. I've opened up our fireplace and lined it with 12mm Hardiebacker in preparation for a wood burning stove. The Hardibacker is going to be skimmed with Vitcas heat resistant plaster. I thought the brick walls were pretty even so started fixing...

Opening up a fireplace - removing the gather

Hi I've read a few posts about how to do this, and I'm hoping to get some feedback on my game plan to open up the fireplace in preparation for a small woodburning stove. I'm planning to widen the opening as far as the pencil marks, i.e. the area directly below the existing lintel. I also want...

    Strange sized WC inlet connector

So just to complete the story, the reducing adapter that converts to 1/2" was indeed in the box as Vinny suggested - I should have checked more carefully. Thanks all

    Strange sized WC inlet connector

Thanks everyone for the help so far - impressed by the great support! So funnily enough it is from Bathstore, as per Vinny's reply. I'll have to look later whether there is an adaptor in the box - I didn't spot one. Still confused though...if this is the solution then that means that a...

    Strange sized WC inlet connector

So now I'm confused. I'm fitting a new WC and want to use a flexible tap connector to the inlet - but a 1/2" tap connector is too small (just) and a 3/4" connector is too big! I've heard that there is also 3/8", but unless I've really forgotten to do maths then that's smaller than 1/2" anyway...
