    extend an existing extension

Hi I am in the process of buying a house that already has an extension which is roughly 3500 deep x 2700 wide. I understand it is now possible to have an extension upto 6000 deep is that correct (for a semi) I'd like to make the extension bigger but not sure at all on cost! I've done some...

I don't have another thread, I just changed my mind on what I'd originally posted.

Fitting a new TV in the bedroom

Thanks - i'm not sure what you mean by connecting the 2 cables at the distribution box? Do you mean in the attic where the cable starts?

Fitting a new TV in the bedroom

Hi, I want to fit a new TV in the bedroom for the Mrs to watch soaps on. There are TV points wired up all over the house (new build) so assuming they are all connected - can I use these to take the signal from the skybox downstairs to the TV upstairs? I know the pic will be rubbish but...

    New Garage power supply

EDIT: on second thoughts... Any electricians give me a rough idea of the cost for the following installation and if you are in notts - I need a job done! Assuming a pre dug trench for the cable to the garage which is at most 8 meters from the house. SWC from meter tails - garage CU...

    Wall fixings - thermalite

I did then! It doesn't say that, but if it did I wouldn't install anything like that - there'd be a good part of the screw hanging out of the plug that way and I'd bet good money the cupboard would fall on my head in a month! They would be useful if they were a bit longer but sadly not the...

    Wall fixings - thermalite

Thanks those look a little shallow though, there'd only be about 10-20mm in the block after the plaster board and void. I've found some 150mm frame fixings in the garage so I'm going to fix one to the wall as a test and see how it performs, luckily no one will see the big hole behind the...

    Wall fixings - thermalite

Hello, I'm a bit stuck and hoping someone can help! I am in the middle of fitting some wall units, and have come across a potential issue... One of the walls is thermalite blocks, and have to go 9" deep before hitting a solid brick. Ideally I'd like to find a fixing that is deep enough...

Fitting Kitchen units to partition wall

Thanks - that makes perfect sense ;) Can you think of anything a bit more elegant than hammer and chisel to make the grooves on the back of the cabinets? I know it's not visible but I'd rather not have a gory mess on the back - cos I'll still know it's there! ;0)

Fitting Kitchen units to partition wall

Found a cabinet hanging rail on the internet, which replaces the normal hanging bracket, so i can find all the studs along the wall for extra support. God bless google! ;)[/b]

Fitting Kitchen units to partition wall

Hi there, I'm hoping someone can lend me the benefit of their experience! I've been out and bought 3 new kitchen wall units (from Symphony Kitchens) at great cost. I will be fitting some to a partition / stud wall. I'm normally quite confident with this stuff, but kitchen cupboards tend to...

Getting power to my detached garage

Hi, I'm trying to get power to my detached garage - so far I've Tapped into the porch light and run and old cable from some lights I pulled out a while ago under the garage door. I've nailed the cable down flat so it's not a tripping hazard I'm just a bit stuck on wiring in the sockets in the...

Old lead pipe for WC connection

thanks ;) I've left it over night yesterday, and today - and it's held up! Unexpectedly my biggest problem was getting water to it! The existing pipe work was about 1cm from the wall and wouldn't pull out to get a pipe cutter on it, 45 mins to cut into it, then 20 mins to get 900 years...

Old lead pipe for WC connection

Yea, I guessed that part, but it's not as flexible as thin rubber and I didn't want to go bashing it into a new shape :D I giess your "clue" was leading me to think I need to bash it big enough? If not please can you expand?
