Hotpoint electric oven and grill cutting out

Hi. What I mean by cutting out is all power seems to be temporarily shut off, no fuses are being tripped. Everything shuts off even the clock display. Separate or common switch control, not sure. There are two knobs. Left is the oven on with temperature/ or grill on. The right knob is a...

I have on order a new oven element but have now realised that the unit is cutting out when using the grill as well. So I...

Hotpoint Dishwasher intermittent on/off when opening door

Hi there. I have just discovered a problem with our Hotpoint Dishwasher where the thing switches on / off when the door is open. When closed the dishwasher doesn't stay on but comes back to life when the door is opened slightly. I Initially thought it was the door latch but that can't be it can...

Showerpump not switching off - Reed switch?

Right, to update. I have taken the offending pump out and stuck a multimeter over the reed switch on each side and physically blown down the tubes and I can confirm that the reed switches turn on when blown through. (You can hear the magnet move when blown through). Still getting problems...

Showerpump not switching off - Reed switch?

So, the reed switch, when it comes to testing them (hot and cold side) should they be open circuit (Normally open) and a test would be to pass a magnet over it to make sure it makes a contact. Should this work? I expect the problem lies within the tube part that the reed switch it attached to...

Thanks Oilboffin. I emailed them this morning.....still no reply, will wait a couple of days and then ring them, although they will probably just tell me to purchase a new one as no serviceable parts. :-(

Showerpump not switching off - Reed switch?

Hi there, I have a Showerforce turbo 2 shower pump (circa 2010) which doesn't like to switch off unless disconnected from the mains. I have dismantled the unit and doesn't seem clogged or anything. I have also given it a darn good shaking to ensure that the (bits) <-- technical term - move about...

New radiator fitted into a new room hot only at top

Hello there. Another plumby question. We have recently had a new radiator fitted in a newly built room, however the rad is only hot at the top half. I know that this has nothing to do with bleeding it....i'm not that stupid as the hot is at top and not bottom! but i did read somewhere...

Hi John 'Burnerman', so this tank is for the central heating... what is a flow and expansion cistern? Would this be where the water comes from for the rads? Thanks
