central heating system clean out. - price check.

They changed a component in the boiler that had a leak and they showed me the inside which was realy gunked up and they said it looks like your system has not been cleaned in years. We have been in the house 7 years and replaced the boiler 4 years ago but althought the system has been drained...

central heating system clean out. - price check.

We have had british gass round (as we pay them for maintenance) and they have fixed a leak on the fill to the combi and discovered there was a lot of corrosion in the central heating system. We explained we had the magic anti corrosion stuff in bet then he said that it does not work like that...

    Cooker extractor and building regs

    1. it re circulates the air so it does not actually blow into the chimney 2. The kitchen people will be fitting it after the whole is made bigger and so i do not have the instructions. they have not commented on the gap so i presume they know what they are doing - but you never know ..

    Cooker extractor and building regs

Not sure if this is the right forum. We have a new cooker in the chimney brest and an extractor above it. We have had the builder knock a whole in the old chimney (i.e. open it up) so we can attach the extractor hood above the cooker and let it blow into the old chimney. The kitchen people have...

    melting cables!

Bri - If you have melting by the fuse, you may also have melting further up in the wiring. I would definatly inspect it all or take it all out and start from scratch.

    cable formula?

Now i do not want to put down any sparkys here, but electricians are not mathematicians (i am sure they will admit) and so, although the actual formula may be fairly complicated, the one they use is not so complex, in fact it is more a table and rules of thumb they apply together with a 'lets...

    Wiring a halogen transformer

I have found that most halogen lighting systems and transformers you would by from retailers (e.g. screwfix/B&Q etc) are double insulated and so do not need earth connection. If there is no earth connection there and nothing in the instructions then it is designed that way.

If i wire it as said it does not come on atall, if a put a connector from live to switched then it is on all the time. Timer wiring

Thanks for that - However the lights used to work on and off when dark and light. The friend i took them off then put low energy lamps in them which flickered for about two hours then went out. The lights since then are on all the time. Now I am presuming therefore that the PIR has broke...

    Timer wiring

Sorry the lights do work - just they are on permanantly not just when dark. Also I have linked the "link to switch" and "live in" connections and in this setup the lights are always on even when the timer is set to off. Without this link the lights are always off ??
