I about to install a new hearth to fit a multifuel stove on, the problem is there is a gas pipe that was used for a living flame fire. Would it be ok to bury the gas pipe covered with gas tape in the morter of the new hearth? The hearth will be about 100mm thick.

I am going to have a multifuel burner insalled but the fireplace needs widening, would I need to use acrow props with strongboys to fit a new lintel? The chimney breast is around 170cm wide I intend opening the fireplace to 100cm wide

Yes the house was built in the 30's at the moment the opening is around 40cm wide and 70cm high

I intend to install a wood burner to fit inside the fireplace, But i need to make the actual fire place larger to fit the wood burner in, I need to take out around 15cm each side, would I need to fit a lintel to support the bricks above? I would like some advice how to do this and if it is going...
