Multipoint lock broken - use different backset?

The multipoint lock on my 10+ year old permadoor front door has just gone and now I can't actually lock the door. I managed to prise it open as the two bolts are not fully engaged but are just a little. Where the actual mortice lock is in the middle, the frame is bulging slightly so I'm not sure...

    Coving a curved ceiling

Ok thanks. There is nothing wrong with coving though, especially if you have an older house and perhaps some of the plaster work at the top of the Walls doesn't look so good. I've put coving in my lounge and it looks fine.

    Coving a curved ceiling

Hi, I'm looking to fit some coving in my bedrooms, but the ceiling curves towards the window in all of them, as shown in this image. Can anyone suggest a way to cove this without it looking hideous?

Wireless controller for Worcester combi boiler

I have a Worcester 30 HE combi condensing boiler. I have a small analogue danfoss thermostat connected to it. I want to replace it with a fully programmable digital controller for flexibility. Can anyone recommend a wireless setup that I can easily fit to this boiler? Wil I need to completely...

Driveway - Dropping of the frontage/curb

Firstly, if you want a dropped kerb, decide where exactly you want it and what size, and apply. Don't let an neighbour dictate what you should do. :) Secondly, how much of your garden are you wanting to make into your drive? Half or all of it? Looking at your picture, I reckon you could get...

    Moisture in my kitchen/diner

Yeah I think I do, just wanted some other input I guess, thanks guys. I assume it extracts, it doesn't extract outside though. I think I might remove a brick and put in a wall vent :)

    Moisture in my kitchen/diner

I do yes, put it on full (when I remember) but I don't think it does much to be honest.

    Moisture in my kitchen/diner

Yeah I do get condensation on the windows. The wall doesn't feel wet at all, it's just cold. For example, last night, the floor felt "sweaty" in the far corner, just a bit. I wiped it all dry and checked it in the morning before I went to work and it seemed ok. I checked it as soon a s I got in...

    Moisture in my kitchen/diner

I have a kitchen/diner which is about 5.5m by 2.5. I've recently noticed that I'm getting a bit of moisture on the floor. I have a ceramic tile floor, and I'm putting the moisture down to condensation as the floor tiles are quite cold and when it warms up and I cook, I think it creates the...

Scale Inhibitor Cartridge - Screwfix same as Sentinel

I need to repace the Sentinel combi guard cartridge on my boiler but local Plumb Centres don't have any, I have found one on Screwfix website but it is not Sentinel and seems unbranded. Will this have the same fitting? Are they all pretty universal? Screwfix do the cartridge and one with the...

    Dropped Kerb

Sorry to raise this again, but I have been contacting contractors for quotes, and one guy has quoted me a good price and said the BT box is no problem, but I have spoken to another one who said the cover may need to be changed to a stronger one for cars and that he can't touch the BT box as they...

Replacing single glazed pane wth double

Hi, I have single glazed UPVC windows in my home. There is a gap around the front of the fitted glass panes of at least 10mm, perhaps more. On most of the windows, this is covered by some sort of blanking plate, but some are missing so I can see the gap. I was wondering if it's possible to...

    Blocked Drain

I am laying some slabs in my garden, and I have a manhole cover which is a drain, so I decided to have a peek to see if everything was ok. There was some water in the bottom (as well as floating tissue), so I flushed my downstairs toilet to see if it flowed ok, and there was some flow, but the...

    Dropped Kerb

Already have a driveway. I'm just going to find out the approved contractors and get quotes off a few and see what they say, then just get it done. Think that's the best way. :)
