We're renovating a Victorian farmhouse & planning to sand & varnish/oil the floorboards upstairs. We can do some swapping of boards, we plan to have a runner down the middle of the 40 foot landing so can swap out some of the better boards in that area. Most rooms are OK but this one is a real challenge, I really don't want to carpet just one room although I don't mind painting the floor. Is this rescuable?

Done properly, most all T&G floors are rescuable.

I know that you are DIY'ers but to preserve some boards perhaps you need a session with a joiner to learn how to lift T&G boards without splintering them. Research on here for an idea.

If you carry on like this you will end up with firewood.
What tools are you using? I notice a jab saw - no saws are needed.
You must try and preserve the fragile tongues & grooves.

Difficult to see but there seems to be some woodworm damage, there's also the matter of cut-nails which can make lifting tricky.

When you have a stack of loose boards you can sand them on a bench with a belt sander.

FWIW: The notching for pipe & cable runs is well over the top - the notches are massive. The joists should have been drilled out for cable & plastic pipe snake thro's.
The pipes must be appropriately clipped or you will have later vibration difficulties.
