Hi guys & gals.

As above , I'm looking to breath a new lease of life into my chimenea. The main reason it needs painting is that I don't think I sealed it when I first bought. What type of paint should I be considering? I've searched the net and found a range of answers from basic emulsion to heat resistant stuff.

At least asking on here will (hopefully) give me some straight answers!

Thanks in advance for any help, it's much appreciated.

think of the heat.

Clay slip would work, otherwise you will be looking at expensive heat-resistant paints.

What made you think it should be sealed?

As long as you fire it up, the heat will burn off whatever black mould or moss you have on it.

Just light it, gather round the thing with some friends and some wine and have a good time.

Life is too short to be painting chimineas. Seriously!
