All burners light ok, you are supposed to hold the knob down for 10 secs or so and then should be able to release it. Problem is that 2 of the 4 burners then go out.
Why is this and how can I fix it?
I didn't realise it was still under Guarantee so Baumatic are going to fix it. The gas guy rang up last night and said the problem is often caused by the knobs being pushed on too far during assembly so you don't get the full flow the ignition needs. He said to pull a knob out a bit and see what happens. That lit another burner but not the two others. Underneath the knobs there are loose black plastic discs. I have always wondered what they are for. I suspect they are supposed to be attached to the bottom of the knobs, maybe they are restricting the flow. He is coming round anyway so I have left them alone.
So a possibly very simple fix.
The guy has just come round, very simple fix. The black plastic discs are supposed to clip into the stainless steel top but were loose and were stopping the thermocouples from operating. Pull the knobs off, push the discs back into place and replace the knobs.
Now works properly all burners lighting within 3 secs.
