18 months ago I had a new boiler fitted in my utility room. I have noticed that there is a slight smoky film on the white ceiling and at the top of the walls. Is this normal, and should I expect some residue especially in a small room.( approx 7ft by 10ft)?

to clarify:- i) He completely closed the valve to stop it leaking. ii) the gurgling noises are in the pipework near to hot water tank and/or in bottom of hot water tank.No gurgling in rad pipework generally. will post pic if poss and helps. cheers.
