    Box in a purlin

    Hello We’ve had a purlin supported with a new timber. As it’s bolted on it looks a mess with 8 bolts. Can we box it in (plasterboard and plaster or some other means) or will it cause issues with breathability? It’s on the inside of the house and the loft is converted.

    Split Purlin

    Hi Could anyone advise on best options for fixing this please? House built in late 1800s but loft converted maybe 30 years ago. The purlin is roughly 15ft long and this split is about 6ft away from one of the ends. Don't really want to replace the whole thing but looking at options. Thanks Dan
