ok I replaced the heating element this morning. The old one did look a little scaled up. Good tip re. getting new jubilee clips, I had to make a trip to the local DIY store to get some as getting the old ones back on is impossible. However... now I started the first wash (empty machine) and...

hmm, I've not had three cycles with NO cleaning tabs, gels, anything in, just water, and AL 10 still comes up. The replacement element arrived today, I will fit tomorrow and see if it clears the error code.

I'm going to try this tomorrow. I've tried over 10 x 90 degree washes with all sorts of cleaning stuff in and no improvement. The waste hose is all fine as well.

Thanks. Yes AL 10 comes up at the end of a wash, sometimes half way through it. How do you prevent over foaming?

Thanks, it is on a full heat wash right now. The powder draw is clean and fine, the smell is in the drum, but it all looks clean.

I just moved back from living abroad for 2 years. I rented my house for this time and returned to find the washing machine a bit smelly. I've done multiple empty washes with washing machine cleaning powder and no luck. Any ideas / tips for cleaning it out? thanks.
