    equipotential zone

thanks guys, But ive been told its good practice to run a 10mm earth to the boiler pipework if it is located outside the house, for example, in a small boiler house. Is this incorrect? And will 4mm cross bonding the boiler pipework do for the attached garage? thanks

    equipotential zone

Is the attached garage of a dwelling within the equipotential zone? The garage holds the boiler and associated pipework. Obviously the boiler will require a supply. But i was wondering if a 10mm earth is required out to the pipework? thanks

    comments on 'faults'

thanks and guys, yes i am surprised about the current carrying capacity of 1.5! Also, this business with the socket and the cooker. Should this double socket be protected by an RCD and if so will this be affected by nuisnace tripping from the cooker? Or is it enough to label the socket...

    comments on 'faults'

Checking a house and found 1. Immersion wired in 1.5 mm and protected by a 15A rewireable. 2. Double socket spurred off a cooker switch in the kitchen. Has anyone any solutions? Does the immersion need rewired or a smaller fuse installed and is this likely to trip? thanks as always.

    simple bell circuit?

Fault finding on a bell circuit... Three bells are installed on a circuit along with a push and a transformer. When 2 bells are connected the push will ring the connected bells. However when 3 bells are connected they will not ring. I think each bell is rated at 0.5 A. However the transformer is...

    dual boiler supply

There is a supply from the t/clock to a 2 gang switch. 1 switch controls the pump and the other the burner. A 3 core flex goes to each. Surely then there is no permanent feed at these points, only a swiched feed from the t/clock? thanks for the info so far...

At the boiler he has a 'house pump' and 'boiler' switch and also a separate 'garage pump' for the rad in the garage. The idea being to run the...

    garden pump

just an update... went ahead with the install. The pump had a load of approx. 1.5A. It is located about 50m from the house and overflow is not an issue. I was concerned about nuisance tripping and decided the 100ma trip would suffice. Althought this does protect the whole house and is not...

    garden pump

thanks fwl and plug, for convenience and due to the layout of the house and out buildings the supply will be from a f/spur of a double socket outlet. This will be protected by a HRC fuse. FWL - i would be interested to know about your audible warning system...

thanks guys, Reading John Whitfields Electricans Guide "Garden lighting, pond pumps and so on should preferably be Class 3. Where 240V equipment must be used, it should be Class 2... If accessible Class 1 equipment is used its supply system must allow disconnection within 0.4 secs.... Then...
