New flooring up to cavity under patio doors?...

ok so i removed the crumbling ledge and dug the cavity out down about 2 bricks, is this ok? just want to be sure that pushing dpc into the cavity curving up to the dpc of the floor then filling with quick set cement is acceptable practice and wont cause any problems in the future. also, will i...

Potterton Suprima firing up and shutting off immediately...

update: another gas engineer came out today and after i gave him all the info and mentioning suggestions offered on here he found that the flame sensor/ignition connector had been pushed in too far, so as many of you mentioned on here, was close enough to arc and ignite but no continuity to send...

New flooring up to cavity under patio doors?...

I am about to lay laminate wood flooring in my lounge/diner but have stumbled across a problem after lifting the carpet. The patio doors are fitted on the outer brick work leaving the cavity exposed. When this flooring was layed the was bridged up to the bottom of the door frame but still left...

Potterton Suprima firing up and shutting off immediately...

bit more info: i've just timed it and its between 3 and 4 seconds... its is the same time every time. once the boiler is reset, the water pump works normally. it spools up when the boiler is starting its firing sequence, then the boiler fires up... tick tock tick tock, shuts down and the...

Potterton Suprima firing up and shutting off immediately...

Hi there, I've just spent the last couple of hours trawling through the many threads regarding the lovely reliable suprima boilers! I called a local gasman out t'other week to do a routine service on our boiler as we hadn't had it done since we moved in and it had been a year. Once he had...

    Prep underneath Hardibacker...?

Hi All, I am tiling a wooden floor in my bathroom (joist span 40mm, board thickness 16mm - small 2m squared area). I am putting down 6mm Hardibacker boards in preparation for waterproof matting and tiles with bal rapidset flexible. My local topps tiles told me to simply screw the board...

Tiling up to bath with side panel...

I agree that the seal would potentially not be as good and ideally, that is the way i wanted to do it, but with this end panel its making me think twice. It is a shower bath in the p shape and the panel is definately the complete length unfortunately... any advice welcomed.

Tiling up to bath with side panel...

Hi all... As per the tiling guide, it has always been my intention to tile up to my new bath and silicon seal between the tile and the bath deck... however, as the moulded side panel extends the complete length of the bath, the tiles down the side would then prevent the side panel from fitting...

Concealed Bath/Shower mixer valve and wall cavity...

hi richard, just to throw a spanner in the works, what are your opinions on pressurised hot water systems? a friend of mine has just suggested, as an option instead of a noisy pump, to put a mains fed pressurised vessel in the system to give my hot water a mains header pressure.

Concealed Bath/Shower mixer valve and wall cavity...

do you know if the st pumps come with a plug? it says 'prewired - yes' but i assume that just means from the pump itself. just need to decide now whether to go for the 2bar or the 3bar

Concealed Bath/Shower mixer valve and wall cavity...

you mention the monsoon range of st pumps i assume because they are house pumps but looking at the st website, the showermate range states: A Showermate S1.8 bar twin pump is designed to boost the incoming hot and cold water supply to an individual shower, bath / shower mixer, or mixer tap...

Concealed Bath/Shower mixer valve and wall cavity...

its the way i would go but the mrs wouldn't go for that as she loves a bath. the window is a fair way forward of the shower head but it has a waterproof roller blind over it to minimise splashes. also the room will be tiled floor to ceiling so it will be all sealed.

Concealed Bath/Shower mixer valve and wall cavity...

some sound advice, thanks chap. it will be a dedicated feed to the 'shower valve' but the valve has a 3way selector which supplies the bath filler too. so i'll definately go for a pump with bypass loop... do the st pumps have these? seems to be unique to salamander. the salamander also seems...

Concealed Bath/Shower mixer valve and wall cavity...

i was informed that i would need the rhp for the bypass loops due to it feeding a bath filler... in case only hot or cold are selected individually. it will still only be used to supply the shower valve so not too worried about the noise with every tap in the house. can i just tap off the...

Concealed Bath/Shower mixer valve and wall cavity...

after researching i've decided to go for a salamander RHP50 house pump. ideally i would install it under the bath so it would only come on when flow is selected from the shower/bath valve but there will be tap-offs for all the other services between the cws and hot water tanks and the pump which...
