What is this joint called? Used to join chipboard furniture

What is the name of this method of joining furniture? And where can I buy these joints? I'm sure we've all used these joints before when we've purchased flat pack furniture.

What does "1st fix / 2nd fix" mean?

I'm not very familiar with the carpentry terminology, although I've done loads of carpentry work myself (mainly in my own home). What does 1st fix and 2nd fix carpentry refer to?

Kitchen circuit - Is this allowed? (pic included)

I'll be connecting an integrated fridge and washing machine.

Kitchen circuit - Is this allowed? (pic included)

So its perfectly fine to have a double plug socket running from a single spur coming from one FCU switch?

Kitchen circuit - Is this allowed? (pic included)

I think I know what this better way is. You don't actually connect a 'plugged' socket do you? You just wire the cable of the fridge/washing machine straight into a wallplate, which then run to the switched Fuse right?

The wires are all 3 core twin & earth 2.5mm. Red, Black and Green/Yellow.

Kitchen circuit - Is this allowed? (pic included)

I haven't got a multimeter, but this was installed by a electrician so it should be ok right? :?

Kitchen circuit - Is this allowed? (pic included)

Thanks guys. Yes the thing marked 'Fuse' has got a switch on it, and its above the worktop. The sockets are all beneath the worktop. So if I want to switch the fridge/washing machine off then I'd do it from the Fuse switch above the worktop. I've checked everything and it is installed...

Kitchen circuit - Is this allowed? (pic included)

Sometimes its easier to draw a picture instead of explaining. :) A washing machine is currently plugged into the single socket in the pic (on the left). But I want to put a fridge next to it. So can I just turn the single socket into a double socket and plug the washing machine and fridge...

RJ45, phono and plug sockets together.... good idea???

^ The plugs are wired properly (ring circuit). I just didn't draw it right. My bad. I've corrected it now. And thats a lot of wallplates you suggested. I'm gonna have to research some of those. :?

RJ45, phono and plug sockets together.... good idea???

^ Hm..... genius! I'll consider them all. Keep em coming! btw the wall is a plasterboarded stud wall and I've already fed a string through it so its gonna be very easy to fish the wires. Theres gonna be very little mess involved in doing the job.

RJ45, phono and plug sockets together.... good idea???

Thanks guys. You gotta admit... its a good setup ain't it? :D I'm gonna have a TV/Satellite wallplate too.... but thats gonna be on the other side of the room. What else can I have? I think I'll be pretty much fully wired up don't you think??? Are there any other...

RJ45, phono and plug sockets together.... good idea???

I'm thinking of putting an RJ45 internet wallplate, two double plug sockets, and a phono outlet all next to each other in my room so that my computer is all wired up. This is exactly how I want it to be: I'm gonna keep the cables separate. ie, the mains cables for the plug sockets...

    Cables in cavities

I'm pretty sure there aren't any rodents in my cavity..... (I hope). Like I said my satellite cable passes through my cavity anyway because of the hole that the satellite man drilled through both walls. I'm really thinking about running the satellite cable down the cavity......

    Cables in cavities

Are you allowed to run satellite cable down the cavity? Surely theres no harm in this...... is there??? :? Most satellite installers drill a hole through both walls and pass the satellite cable through. So the satellite cable is pretty much in the cavity in most households anyway...

Where can I buy a loft Fire Escape window?

Apart from Velux? The window has to have an opening of at least 0.33 square/metres. And the height or the width shouldn't be less than 450mm. Wicks do 2 loft windows, but one of them is too small and the other one is too big. I want it to be as cheap as possible.... (cheap in price...

    Noisy extension

^ Thanks for that. I just thought the other day...... there are 9 spotlights in the ceiling. Which means there are 9 holes drilled in the ceiling. Even though they're covered with the spotlights.......... could this still be the reason?

Broken bricks for hardcore under slabs....

Everyone says that you can use broken bricks for the hardcore underneath slabs, and then put sharp sand over it followed by the slabs. Do the bricks have to be 'broken'? I've got a load of whole bricks (cuz we knocked out a few fireplaces). Can I just lay them whole without breaking them...
