    Recurring shower valve issue

Hi, we have a Mira Vier digital shower, fed off a mains pressure hot water tank. Last year it developed a fault where it would only deliver hot water (no matter what the temp control was set to), and then would error out with an 'over-hot' code. It could be fixed by turning it on and off at the...

    Help fixing leaking tap

Right, stupid question time. I'm struggling to get an adjustable spanner in to the nut, because it's slightly recessed, so I went to buy the right size spanner. The nut is 30mm wide, so I bought a 30mm spanner. However it's too big. What size spanner is needed for a nut that's 30mm across?

Ok, thanks for all the help, I'll give it a bash later this week.

    Help fixing leaking tap

Excellent, thanks for the info. The beveled top is on pretty tight. Any idea what I could use to get it off without damaging it?

    Help fixing leaking tap

Hi, I've attached a picture of a bathroom tap. I've taken the handle off, and it's easy to see that when it's turned on (it's a twist & lift style tap), water leaks into the top & eventually drips over the sides. The problem is how I stop this! I can't see how to get to anything, or anything ti...

    Broken microwave - self-repair?

It seems to work just fine, whether or not I've cleaned it. But presumably this piece exists for a reason!

How to get shower side panel to fit

That sounds like a good plan. Not to sound like a complete DIY dunce, but what would you buy to make the upstand?

How to get shower side panel to fit

Yes, it just pushes into place (or should, if it wasn't too tall).

How to get shower side panel to fit

Hi, We've got a shower tray that was fitted with a riser kit, and has a PVC side panel. The original panel had cracked, so I bought a new one of the same height as the original (95mm). However I can't get it to fit in - it's just a bit too tall, even when I take the lino up. I suspect that's...

    Broken microwave - self-repair?

Guilty as charged, although in my defence, the food tastes the same whether the microwave is clean or dirty ;-) I found the exploded parts diagram, the relevant part is attached. It's listed as aerial, reflector, disc & screw. It's the 'disc' that's broken, and from what I can tell it just...

    Broken microwave - self-repair?

Hi, We have an integrated Neff microwave oven. Last week there was a bit of a flash, and when I investigated, there's something the top, inside the microwave, that's clearly cracked (see attached pic). From looking at microwave manuals, I *think* it might be the microwave aerial? If so, what...

    Help fixing a toilet flush

The tube doesn't rotate, but I like the idea of just using some wire to get to a lower hole. Looping through a lower hole would be easy. Connecting to the green 'hook' might be trickier, it's hard to explain but a wire would just slip off. I'll have a think about what might clip onto the hook!

    Help fixing a toilet flush

Hi, I've got no plumbing expertise, but I'm sure this should be easy. I've uploaded a picture of my problem - we have a toilet, the button lifts the green hook (arrowed in the pics), which lifts the white tube & makes the toilet flush. The problem is that the hole that the green hook goes...

    Leaking walk-in shower tray

I'm sure the builder knows what it's called, I'm not asking on his behalf, I'm just asking to try & make sure that the solution he's proposing is likely to work!

    Leaking walk-in shower tray

It was some sort of pre-shaped tray, made of some sort of blue material (the same as waterproof boarding used for the walls), that was put in place of the floorboards and then tiled over. The builder has suggested coming up from underneath & re-inforcing it to stop it flexing, so we'll see what...

    Leaking walk-in shower tray

Apologies for not getting back to this, life got in the way. I've put an image below. The floor (small tiles) is on waterproof boarding. The walls are also waterproof boarding under the tiles. The problem seems to be that the floor flexes, the grout cracks & then water gets underneath, and...

    Leaking walk-in shower tray

I'm pretty sure it's not the waste pipe - the first time it happened, they took the floor up and ran the shower, and you could see the water was dripping down where the waterproof floor met the normal floor. There was nothing coming from the waste pipe. The grout is cracking around the tiles on...

    Leaking walk-in shower tray

Yet, it's a wet room. The floors & wall are all waterproof, and they are working fine - no leaking at all. The problem is that obviously at some point, the waterproof floor stops, and the normal floor starts. Above the tiles there is a glass partition, so the water can't get to the normal floor...

    Leaking walk-in shower tray

Hi, Just wondered if anyone had any advice on this. We've had a walk-in shower fitted as part of a bathroom renovation. The showed used a pre-formed tray which was fitted into the floor then tiled over. After about 6 months we noticed some wet patches on the ceiling of the room below. The...
