Bathroom downlight - with changeable bulbs

yeah - I noticed that most integrated are 3000k which doesn't seem as warm as the 2700k soft lighting nor as blinding as the 4000k cool white

Bathroom downlight - with changeable bulbs

Thanks for the responses guys!! Really appreciate it. I decided to go for an integrated unit in the end as I needed it on the day and I am sure I will get used to whatever light to is. For anyone else looking - local places had them but the only good ip rated one I could find in the bog...

Bathroom downlight - with changeable bulbs

Hi, can anyone recommend some downlights for the bathroom. I had a look and most of the bathrooms ones in screw fix seem to be integrated units, but I would like one where I can change the bulb as I am to sure on soft-white or daylight! One will be in ceiling above shower and the other three...

    Some bathroom renovation help!

For extraction I'm looking at the envirovent silent 100 with continuous on and moisture sensor and overrun timer. Might consider going centrifugal.. The tiler said he will tank the shower area - will that be good enough? On the other side of the wall is a sink. I am thinking a full wall will...

    Some bathroom renovation help!

Hi, One of my current projects is renovating my dated bathroom. I have hired a builder for most of the finishing work and had a few questions I could use some friendly advice on: 1. How high would you reckon half tiled should be? I am thinking 1.25metres (roughly to where full tile ends). Sound...

Double glazing windows installers who make their own windows

I was never intending to use the big 3/4 - once made a mistake of asking for a quote... anyway, I would like to use local. I have concerns because I got double glazing about 8 years ago from a small company that said they manufacture their own. It met all the standards and warranties but was...

Double glazing windows installers who make their own windows

Hi, I am getting quotes on new windows and door (bifold). What's the general feeling about companies/double glazing windows installers who manufacture their own windows and doors? They say it meets all the standards but I still have concerns... Are they generally better than branded or worse...

    Bifold door installation

Hi, with summer coming and the kids getting older, I was thinking about replacing my traditional double glazed windows (large pane with casement opening on either side) to bifold doors for access to garden (there is a separate door to access garden so this would not be only/main exit). I had a...

When is a competent persons scheme electrician required?

Thanks guys. Just a follow up - you said all work should come with a certificate - is there a standard certificate or form it should take? Or is it what the electrician decides? I'm starting to think just to go with a scheme member to be sure!

When is a competent persons scheme electrician required?

Hi, I usually use someone who is a member of one of the schemes when i have some work like consumer unit/kitchen/bathrrom electrics - notifiable stuff. However, I often have smaller work like: - Replacing lighswicthes - Installing dimmers - Rcd tripping Do I need to use a competent scheme...

Can you install a new consumer unit without upgrading all?

On supplementary bonding, he implied i had many copper pipes for water, and radiator etc, and that it would be much safer and better that they be cross bonded under floorboards of hallway, kitchen and at boiler. £50 quid for each. I have another spark coming monday. Better to get a second in...

Can you install a new consumer unit without upgrading all?

Thanks guys - do you mind if i just ask - the water bonding is there but not at the stopcock (there is no stopcock inside but that is another issue). So the bonding is on the incoming water supply prior to to the pipe teeing to the kitchen and elsewhere. Is this a problem? I was told it must...

Can you install a new consumer unit without upgrading all?

OK, I have some more information. There is bonding but it is not near the entry point for the gas pipe, just at the nearest point to the fuse board. There is no supplementary cross-bonding. This importance of bonding over RCD has made me change my plans - I will get the bonding done first as...

Can you install a new consumer unit without upgrading all?

I guess if bonding is not required then I must have gotten a spark that exercised their own preference not to insert the CU without bonding. Fair enough, but they could have been clearer. On RCD >bonding, i cannot say where i got that impression - is it not true?
