    Shower mixer theremostic valve

I have a slow drip coming from the shower head. I have started striping down the mixer valve and have stopped because I am unclear what to do next. Do I remove the pin and try to unscrew the capstan or is there another way to get at the washer/ o ring? Robin

Door entry phone interfacing to a dect phone?

Actually I think it is an 8 wire system. It loops from phone to phone in a daisy chain effect. Should that mean the interface you are suggesting will still work? I do not think it is a videx system just a videx handset, which was supplied as a replacement to the old one. The system is about 30...

Door entry phone interfacing to a dect phone?

A few years ago the original handset failed. it was not a videx. The engineers put in the one you can see in the picture, so it was there because it matched the system not because the original was videx. I doubt if I will learn much about the system from the back of this replacement handset...

Door entry phone interfacing to a dect phone?

There are 7 flats each with one handset in the flat by the door. There is a common panel at the main front door. Each flat has its own button in the panel. The DEP controls a door release on the front door and allows intercom with the caller. I am trying to only interface with my...

Door entry phone interfacing to a dect phone?

I doubt if ours has an interface. The system is analogue so there is a better chance that it can be interfaced with the dect phone to which I referred . Do you think it would be difficult? Robin

Door entry phone interfacing to a dect phone?

I have noticed that there are some dect phones on Ebay that are for both dect and the door entry phone. There is only one make called Response. I live in a flat serviced by a sound only door entry phone system. I would like to interface the dect phone to my hand set. Do you think that is...

    Earth checking for grounding

Thank you everyone for your replies so far. I am trying to understand if my flat is properly earthed. The man at this website recommends a number of checks, one would be to take a reading in volts between earth and neutral. he recommends it should read <2v, I do not know if his advice...

    Earth checking for grounding

I think I will try the flat earth concept first, because in practice I can not put in an earthing stake. However as the gas pipe is earthed that should be a true earth. If not, I can not do a lot about it and I hope the small differential will not negate the benefits.

    Earth checking for grounding

Most of the sellers of grounding sheets, etc do recommend using a grounding rod and they do sell them. In my case I have a flat on the first floor and do not have access to the garden. I therefore have to look to something that is earthed in my flat. In terms of convenience and the avoidance of...

    Earth checking for grounding

I have tried it by rewiring an ordinary plug. Taken out the negative, and cut short the pos so that it does not come through the plastic of the plug. I need it to hold the other end of the fuse. Sealed the pin holes with hot plastic glue as an insulator. Thus only the earth pin comes out of...

    Earth checking for grounding

From what i have read, I think that it will help provided it is earthed. Here is a paper on the health benefits of grounding: http://downloads.hindawi.com/journals/jeph/2012/291541.pdf Robin

    Earth checking for grounding

I want to be sure that a wall socket is truly earthed. I propose to do a continuity test on the earth pin back to the gas meter. Would that be sufficient? I have a cheap volt/ amp meter and a long cable. I have no reason to believe the socket is faulty but because I have ordered a...
