OK so it's feasible that a new healthy pump could die in 6 weeks then, so it's probably not a warranty job, more just a row with the installing plumber.

Would those checks be the norm? we're trying to figure out of the installing plumbers should be liable for the cost of the pump replacement, ie should they have checked it as a matter pf course. Don't really want to get into a protracted legal situation over it though as it's not a huge bill.

Yeah plumber pumped out 30l of water and says the tank should be safe to keep using.

Yeah they left the old pump, she was concerened that 6 weeks wasn't very long and that maybe it was just a duff pump and a plumber trying to make money instead of putting it through as a warranty failure.

My mum had a new boiler replaced with hot water cylinder and a few new radiators recently and within about 6-7 weeks of installation the oil pump has failed on the boiler. That's annoying, might be a backup though as I could screw wooden blocks to the side to replicate the profile

I have some LAP 6481V batten lights that I've lost the mounting brackets for (below) I bought the lights in Screrwfix but they don't sell replacements and I can't find anything generic anywhere, would anyone know where to get any?

okay but then what happens when you're fixing cupboards to the wall?

That's one option for the kitchen maybe but the bathroom's pretty small already so I'd prefer a product that could be rendered on without losing space through battens etc.

I've got to strip kitchen and bathroom walls down to the brickwork, they're both going to be tiled but the bricks going to be a bit rough and I reckon I need to level it first, what's the best product? I had assumed just a layer of soft sand render would do (don't work with masonry much) but...

Thanks John, I had a look at that site but they only seem to have a couple of helmets and only 1 in my price range, seems like a decent spec though.

I'm a very amateur DIY welder, (underbody patches on cars etc with a little 100 amp DIY gas mig unit) and I decided to treat myself to an auto darkening helmet after years of struggling with a crap 30 year old hand me down. I don't really want to spend any more than £50 as I don't weld that much...

Yeah longevity is the issue with these kind of things, don't want to be pulling membranes off in a couple of years to re-do them....
