Can I have a 3 phase supply added easily

I *think* that's the circuit going to my shed, so I hope so! It was all done before I moved in a couple of years ago. I can double check in the morning. Thanks!

Can I have a 3 phase supply added easily

Yes, but it it does if I'd like to get a 22kW charger installed, right?

Can I have a 3 phase supply added easily

I am investigating electric car chargers.

Can I have a 3 phase supply added easily

Hi, I have a main fuse carrier which has space for 3 fuses, although only 1 has a tail coming out of it. There is only 1 cable going into the bottom. Does this mean it would be (relatively) easy to have the supply upgraded to 3-phase? Is there a way to tell? As there is only 1 cable going in...

New circuit for induction hob, rcd tripped off

Thanks. So I guess I should try and reproduce it, to narrow it down?

New circuit for induction hob, rcd tripped off

Hi, I had an electrician install a new 45A circuit for an induction hob (replaced the gas hob). It is connected to a 63A RCD in a split load consumer unit (Other RCD is 80A) along with the rest of the kitchen appliances oven/microwave/etc). While cooking dinner yesterday, we had the oven...

Run electricity supply to kitchen island but avoid disturbing newly laid floor

The house is victorian. I'm not sure about sockets on the island, doesn't look like it, but will check. Pretty sure there's no underfloor heating, which would make it simpler.

Run electricity supply to kitchen island but avoid disturbing newly laid floor

I'm definitely going to ask (Although I've been lied to about similar issues in the past...). But I want to be prepared for the 'no' answer.

Run electricity supply to kitchen island but avoid disturbing newly laid floor

Yeah, I'm hoping there's one already there. This is a house we're going to look around to see if we want to buy it, so I want to see what the options are beforehand. It's a newly renovated kitchen, but we *really* don't like gas hobs! :D

Run electricity supply to kitchen island but avoid disturbing newly laid floor

That's great information, thanks. I was expecting that we might have to try and make it 'straight' by digging down to the bend. I guess I was hoping for some sort of 'boring' device, which would 'worm' its way along, pulling something behind it. :D

Run electricity supply to kitchen island but avoid disturbing newly laid floor

Possibly, I think it would look a little strange because it's a vaulted ceiling. Good idea though, thanks.

Run electricity supply to kitchen island but avoid disturbing newly laid floor

Not sure - it's a house we're possibly going to buy. But a suspended floor would definitely make it easier.

Run electricity supply to kitchen island but avoid disturbing newly laid floor

What are the possible solutions for running an electricity supply to a kitchen island while avoiding disturbing a newly laid floor. Imagine there is a gas hob on a kitchen island. If I would like to have it switched to electric, could we disconnect the gas supply, and run an electricity cable...

Re-run gas supply to boiler - options

I think it's the inconsistencies in information that I have received which is the problem. Let me walk you through some of the story: 1. We bought the house with a 1980s boiler installed in a fireplace, vented up the chimney. 2. I had 3 RGIs round (including british gas) to quote for a...

Re-run gas supply to boiler - options

Hi, I never said I can't do repairs. In fact, I am permitted to do any *repairs* necessary. There are restrictions on what one is permitted to change in listed buildings - in theory, I can ask to do anything, but it needs approval by a conservation officer. They generally approve minor...

Re-run gas supply to boiler - options

You mean the one who was 'concerned' about the pressure drop? I'm not at all convinced he was legitimate, despite quoting loads of regulations. He was from one of these emergency firms, because we had a leak just before we were about to go on holiday. It felt like he was on-the-clock and trying...

Re-run gas supply to boiler - options

Not exactly keeping this on-topic, but it's been covered over with a fire surround. :) The pipes go across at the height of the mantlepiece. The best we could do in the circumstances - the RGI wasn't interested in channeling into the floor. Anyone have any comments/suggestions/tips for me? 1...

Re-run gas supply to boiler - options

Thanks for the reply. Of course I understand that there will be some drop due to the resistance in the pipe, as I said above, my concern is that the regulations change, or the pressure drops further for some reason and my existing installation is then deemed 'unsafe'. The engineer we had round...

Re-run gas supply to boiler - options

OK, thanks. I have a Vaillant boiler: "ecotec plus 618 18kw system boiler". No other gas appliances. The pressure drop is 2-3mbar - around 19 at the meter, and 17 at the boiler. Picture attached. You can just about make out the white cast iron pipe coming from the floor, and the copper above it...
