yip dean ....actually posed this question on ukplumbersforum just to get as many answers as possible and a guy called Scott_d said make sure his registration is in his own name....if he hadn't pointed that out I'd be fooked right now....God bless the forums ....tbh witcha am really feeling a big...

had two quotes from 2 GSR's on a new combi and 7 rads but the second guy's registration is under his company's name and not his own...he would be doing it as a 'homer' job ....so not under his company's 'umbrella'....whats the consequences if I choose him? Cheers Danny

wee update here...the 2nd quote we got from the guy doing the 'homer'....his Gas Registration is under his company's name and not his own.....should I walk away from him? any issues with this?

Hi there, I've decided to get a new combi and 7 new convector rads in my new home. Property is a 2 storey 3 bed semi (with 2 occupants) built circa 80-100 years ago with thick sandstone walls and high ceilings. I've had to local GSR/CH engineers around to quote...1st guy was Baxi/Potterton...

Got another thread in the central heating section but this is my other main problem. Moved into a new home about a week ago and found our indesit cooker (90cm wide, 5 gas burner ,one eletric oven model KP9507 EB(x)G is taking about 40 minutes to get to 200C...anyone got any ideas on this? temp...

ok tried the other valves on each rad all open fully apart from my room rad was almost completely closed so opened up fully and closed about 1/8 turn to prevent sticking....one rad screw cap was seized so need to get a set of mole grips on it...other rads in extension are new type double...

just put the CH on so I'll monitor the boiler if boiler goes on/off Sorry I was referring to the valves on the rads thought they were called TRV's the only other valve on each rad is the one without the 1-5 dial and hasa little screw cap...are these the ones you mean? I'll give that a shot...

we did get an independent survey done on it and nothing was mentioned in the report ..they were more concerned about the structural condition and electrics...which they pointed out tho working properly...they would recommend a re-wire...they obviously didn't check the CH or if they did not...

btw ..room stat looks like an old rotary dial Honeywell and clicks at 12/13C and again at about 15C...checked this without heating on
