    Apologies for the late response, but I just wanted to thank everybody for taking the time to reply. I tried the method with some old coins and couldn't get it to work, but it did give me another idea, and I managed to get the rads off by temporarily swapping the TRV for the manual valve head...

    Thanks for the advice. I ended up taking a blade to it, removing the paper and the old caulk and have re-caulked it myself. Happy with the results. Thanks again. :mrgreen:
