    Liquid silicone sealant

Maltaron- I would do this but 2 metres is using a whole tube of sealant. With 20 metres not only is it a lot of silicone but also a lot of smoothing which I don't think I will get perfect on the whole length. I hoping to just pour something in a leave it to set but Polyester casting resin will...

    Drilling below Damp Proof Course

I need to get two ducts that provide power and data to a garden office under the ground floor to under the stairs. In order for it to look the neatest it will be dug into an existing concrete slab (where the new patio will rest on) and concreted over. Where it meets the house I have the option...

    Liquid silicone sealant

I have a 20M run of 10mm x 10mm U shaped aluminium set into edge of a step. It currently has LED tape in it but needs to be replaced. That's the easy bit but I need to re seal the groove with clear/slightly opaque silicone sealant. Using the standard stuff in a gun is not only a pain but very...

    Grey underground ducting

I'm running some power and cat 6 lines to my new garden office but can't find any grey ducting. I've order the black but can only find alternatives in green, purple and orange but no grey for telecommunications. Has anyone got a source as google isn't very helpful this evening?

Electrics gone out but fuse not tripped

Sounds like a power cut to me and nothing to do with the boiler. Are other house/flats in the street in darkness too?

    Garden lighting

Nice idea as I can just cover in under a small amount of soil instead of digging deep. Thanks for all your thoughts

    Garden lighting

Interesting thought their ricicle and a great idea, I was just concerned about a garden fork incident. Having said that the tools in the shed don't look like they have ever touched the soil! Would you say a plastic flexible conduit would "provide the equivalent protection against mechanical...

    Garden lighting

I have an interesting project in a clients garden coming up and just wanted some advice on the best way to proceed. Garden has a wall around the 3 sides with a shed in 1 corner and water fountain in the other. A 4mm SWA feeds the shed and then loops onto a twin 13A waterproof socket for the...

    Low line bath trap install

I have a CTL2 low line bath trap but slightly confused on how to install it. Should the bath waste enter straight down into it or via the 90 bend? There is a seal connection below the 90 degree, is this for the overflow from the bath?

    No trip Zs tests

So do you think Circuit 2 warrants investigation or should I rely on my measurements which of course take into consideration parallel paths? Only gas in bonded as water is plastic.

    No trip Zs tests

I have only recently read that the No Trip Zs function of my meter shouldn't be relied upon. Instead the calculated value should be used in my test results. I have always gone with the understanding that the result can be "calculated or measured" Current job has thrown up some interesting...

    Forum Attitude to Non-Notification

Interesting reading JohnW2 so I thought you may be interested in a true story regarding Part P and the law. A friend of mine (no really it is a friend I'm not talking about myself in third person) is a qualified electrician but is NOT part of a registered part P scheme such as NICEIC or NAPIT...

    Supplementary Bonding

Thanks RF So are you saying that in both an RCD protected circuit and one without there is no reason to bond the set? The lanterns attached to it may only be attached via a hook clamp http://www.doughty-engineering.co.uk/shop/84/87/index.htm so there may be a high resistance between that...

    Supplementary Bonding

I'm just coming to the end of my 2330 level 3 and have been asked to teach some students Basic Electrical Theory. It is University level and the course is based on lighting for theatre. I want to explain about bonding of metallic set pieces that have lighting on them and are on stage (i.e...

Pump problem, anyone want to fix it?
