    Baumatic B180SS-B Oven not working

It was the switch with RCCB on it (and a test button) on the main distribution board. It has a three-circle element and fan for the oven, and a grill all within the oven. Mains lead looks ok No excess water has been spilt over the appliance.

    Baumatic B180SS-B Oven not working

I bought a new element thinking that was the problem but when I fitted it, the fuse on the consumer unit tripped. I circuit tested the wires but there was no connectivity (likewise, there was no connectivity on the old element). I took the back and top off the oven to trace the wires and...

Hoover Quattro AA230 - Not draining

Hi all, Has anyone experienced a draining problem with the Hoover Quattro AA230? Reading other posts here, it may be a blocked pump or perhaps an electronic problem. Some water has also leaked to the floor on occasions. Any help you can give is appreciated. Cheers!

    Fixing WC on tiled floor

Hi all, I have just finished tiling my bathroom and I decided to tile under the WC instead of tiling around it (worked very well as there was enough clearance to get the tiles under without having to remove the bowl completely). My question is: how do I secure the WC to the tiled floor, is...

Combining two hall single switches into one double switch

Thanks for the reply. Since the intermediate switch is simply a type of junction, is there anything I should be aware of when connecting the wires (although it sounds straight forward enough and instructions should be provided anyway)?

Combining two hall single switches into one double switch

I currently have two single switches in the hall to control the hall and landing light and have one double switch upstairs to control the same. All are obviously 2-way switches. The switch for the hall light downstairs is in an inconvenient place and I wish to move it to where the other...

    Condensation on pipework

Hi all, I have noticed dampness appearing on the wall covering in my hall. I feared that I had a leak in the water pipe that runs upwards to the bathroom in the corner. After removing the wall covering, I could see that the water pipe is not embedded in the wall and is visible in places and...

    Spurs clarification!

Following the advice given, I went to my local diy store and explained to their resident electrician what I was looking for. His response was that I did not need a dual box, and that a spur from the double socket to a 20A junction was ok (I did emphasize that I would then take 2 spurs from the...

    Spurs clarification!

Thanks sm1thson and TicklyT! I will go for the dual box as it sounds the easiest of the methods suggested (although that statement may come back to haunt me!).

    Spurs clarification!

I want to add 2 double sockets to take light loads, for example a TV and wireless receiver on one and a lamp and stereo on the other. There is currently one double socket which looks to be on a radial. Since only one extension can spur from a socket, what are my option for 2 spurs? - Can I...
